I’m a big fan of soup.
It’s easy to make
You get a large quantity so meals for days
You can hide lots of veggies in soup and your family barely notices.
Piper told me that this was “LITERALLY THE BEST MEAL I’VE EVER MADE”
But then when I gave her leftovers a few days later she said she hated it and it was horrible. What are you going to do?
I still think you should make it though because I am a fan.

I’m a HUGE fan of these spices from AllSpice. It makes a world of difference in how good my food tastes. Highly recommend you getting yourself some.
Also highly recommend you organizing them like an OCD freak because then I won’t feel so alone.
If you are in the Des Moines area, head down to the East Village and check them out. If not you can order online. Their must haves are the garlic powder, the vanilla, gusto pizza seasoning, and the cinnamon. Soooo good.
- 2 lbs Italian sausage or Italian style ground turkey/chicken (I Like the Whole Foods Brand)
- 1 yellow onion
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1-2 Tbsp oil
- 2 Red Bell Peppers
- 1 bunch of kale
- 1 Can diced tomatoes
- 1 can diced Italian style tomatoes
- 6-8 Cups Chicken Broth
- 1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tsp basil
- dash garlic powder
- dash black pepper
- Start by browning 2 lbs of Italian Sausage or Italian Style Turkey in a 5 qt stockpot. Once done remove from heat and set aside.
- In the same pot saute 1 yellow onion and 3 garlic cloves (minced) in 1-2 Tbsp of oil for 2-3 minutes or until onion is just slightly translucent. Add 2 red peppers and a large bunch of kale (torn into smaller pieces), I used almost an entire head of kale (probably 10 leaves, stems removed). Saute for 2-3 more minutes.
- Add meat back to the pot and 1 can diced tomatoes plus 1/2 can of diced Italian style tomatoes.
- Mix in 6-8 cups of chicken broth (organic if possible) and your spices, 1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning, 1 Tsp basil, dash of garlic powder, dash of black pepper.
- Once you’ve added the chicken broth heat the mixture over medium until it comes to a light boil, then reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and stir occasionally. Once it has simmered roughly 30 minutes its ready to serve, or you can leave it on the stove for a few hours, your choice.
